What is beauty... anyways?

Lately, I've been pretty down on myself... I find myself lacking confidence. After reading this lovely post  I felt it was time for me to address this.

What defines beauty? Or perhaps a better question is who defines beauty? Is being beautiful the same as being a "badd b*tch"  ?  I often look at myself, and think if only I had a smaller nose, or longer hair... but I've never really looked at myself and felt as if I'm truly beautiful. Sometimes I choose to hide behind make-up or to simply blend into the crowd by dressing myself completely down in attempt of going unnoticed.

Beauty is an abstract concept!
In my opinion, beauty describes character opposed to appearance. It describes that girl who is always willing to help, even if she has to give her last. Or that girl who came from a shaky background and takes everything she has in her, in order to press on and succeed. Beauty is ambition... Beauty is uniqueness...Beauty is internal...
When one's good traits begin to spill out, that is when true beauty is discovered!  With that being said... I declare my beauty today!

Yes! I'm beautiful, gorgeous...and I'll even take the title of being a "badd b*tch," and I dare anyone to try to tell me other wise ; )

Although, every outfit may not be flattering on me, or I may not conform to the trends of fashion, I still see the beauty.

As time progresses, I learn to accept things as they are , especially myself : )
Inside and out : )

It's amazing how as human, we are more likely to point out the flaws of anything before we appreciate the good. And often times, we are the most critical in regards to ourselves.
Beautiful, eh?
So, what's your definition of beauty?

T.G.I.F.... well almost!

This week has been very eventful for me! To start, I had a majorly long weekend, since I didn't have class on Friday, Monday (Happy Labor day), or Tuesday... so of course, I spent it sleeping and studying! On Wednesday, I had a couple of quizzes, so I figured if I dress nice and feel good about my self (oh, and study), then I'll produce good results on them. Ha Ha

Today, I had my first volunteer experience in the physical therapy clinic at my school, and I enjoyed it! However, the lady I shadowed was a little rude... but I'm hoping my next go round, she's a little more pleasant. After all, everyone has bad days. =/
And to top it all off, I saw Spike Lee today!
I was always unclear about why he had ill feelings towards Tyler Perry, other than him stating that he's a buffoonery of a director, he never really explained. Tonight, he was asked about this, of course (inquiring minds wanted to know... especially mines) and his metaphor made it seem less like hating. He stated that while Tyler is good at HIS craft, he doesn't feel that he makes a good director. For example, Brittney Spears is good at what she does, but would you put her up against Alicia Keys? Food for thought!
How was your week?

Best Mascara Ever!!

So I had the intentions on walking past Sephora when I went to the mall last week, however I just had to stop when I came across this.
This is "They're Real... Beyond mascara."
Mascara made by benefit. I do all that I can to achieve long thick, but not dramatic eyelashes. Everything from layers of mascara to false lashes, but I think I've found a solution : )
Their Claim: Lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. This jet black long-wearing formula won't smudge or dry out.

My Experience: It definitely made a difference. I applied it to the top for a curl, as well as the bottom to emphasize on the curl as well as length. While a little, volume was achieve I did not get them as thick as I would have liked. I'm assuming it's because of my technique of applying it. Overall, I suggest it to anyone who doesn't want to go through the pain of gluing and removing false lashes. I have a few pictures but they aren't that great. I'll post better ones later.
Before
I only put it on one eye

FAQ's in regards to my hair

I'm COMPLETELY addicted to weave, however I've recently (well, like a year ago) gone through a major change with my own hair. I did the BIG CHOP!

When I first did it, I had to stop myself from crying. I hated it and could not believe what had just been done. But eventually, it started to grow on me. Now I want to take the time to address some frequently asked questions about my hair and my transition process.

When did you cut it?
September 27, 2010... around noon... the day before my 20th birthday

Why did you do it?
Ever since I could remember, I've had a nice texture of hair as well as decent length (with the exception of my layer hair cut gone wrong), and I yearned for a change since I was about to enter a new stage of my life, as no longer being a teen. Also, I have always lack confidence and I figured if I could cut my most cherished hair and no longer have that shield (symbolically) , I could put myself to the test and build confidence. In addition, I have always longed for thick, curly, full hair... usually going to weave for the look. I figured this way, I could have the best of both worlds. Straight hair when I want, and curly, natural hair also. Lastly, the cut not only signifies a "coming of age" stage of my life, but it also signals me cutting away all the negativity that was holding me back, the challenges that were holding me down, and the misconception of me.

If you're natural, why do you wear weave?
LOL! I've actually gotten this one a couple of times.  Well... while I love my own hair, I love how wearing weave adds versatility, without putting stress on my own hair. With weave, I can ad color, take away color, wear it long, or short. The possibilities are endless. My meaning of natural only refers to my own hair. However, I have made an agreement with God saying that once my hair is shoulder length (straightened), I am def cutting my weave usage waaayyyyy down.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to leave a comment : )

Intro...?

So as I was surfing the web, I came across an interesting blog.... and as I became lost within it... I thought to myself... Hey! Blogging may be a fun experience... So here I am. : )
So for the past month or so, I've gained a new obsession.... Lipstick <3 ... especially bright colors. Above I tried a blueish/purpleish color. I love it!  I'm all for making a statement, so I love doing unique and different things. I'll most likely be posting random things that intrigue me. That's all for now. Good night <3
